Download & Log into your eCitizen App

Search for the eCitizen Gava Mkononi App on Google Playstore and download the app. Once installed, log into your eCitizen account.

Go through the self-activation guide

Take a few minutes to go through the policies, instructions for self-onboarding and the terms and conditions before continuing to the next step

Scan your fingerprints for verification

To verify that it is you, you are required to scan your face with your phone camera. The app will load and process your image. If you are unable to scan your face, you can use the route to activate your digital ID.

You are also required to scan four of your fingers in the self-activation process. You can choose either hand and record the hand with your phone camera to scan. If you are unable to scan your face, you can use the route to activate your digital ID.

Visit your nearest Huduma Centre

Go to your nearest Huduma Centre and ask for assisted activation for your Digital ID. If visiting the Nairobi Head Office, make sure to book an appointment forehand. Make sure to carry your National ID card to facilitate the process.

Scan your ID Card

The Huduma officials will scan your ID for identification and send a request to your eCitizen app to scan the QR code that shows up.

The Huduma official will scan your fingerprints using their official devices to verify your identity.

OTP Verification

You will choose either your phone number or email address adn receive an OTP verification before your digital ID is activated.

  • Anyone who is a Kenyan citizen, resident or foreigner can access the eCitizen platform by simply registering for an account.

  • Having an eCitizen account allows Kenyan citizens access to all government services, while Foreigners/Residents users have access to some government services conveniently through one click of signing in.

  • The eCitizen Wallet allows users to make electronic transactions, such as bill payments and mobile recharges. It can also be used to transfer money from one account/platform to another, providing a convenient and secure alternative to physical wallets.

    By using a digital wallet, individuals can access their financial information and make transactions without the need for cash or credit cards.

  • Download the app on Google Play Store for FREE and Register/Log in and proceed to pay for your services through the eCitizen wallet.

    • Click on register and enter your details.

    • Sign in and access the government services you desire.

  • As long as you have the eCitizen mobile app, you have access to your wallet.

  • eCitizen mobile app has a wallet which you can use to pay for services.

  • You can conveniently load your wallet by linking it to mobile money, card or Pesalink.

  • We have a two-step authentication once you key in your password you are prompted to enter an OTP that is sent to your phone number/Email. One cannot change your details as one is prompted to put an OTP on your registered phone number for a change to take place.

  • A digital identity is a digital representation of a user’s identity information, like their name and age. It also contains other information, like address, or biometric information, like a fingerprint or face scan.
